I still think iOS developer is a win-win situation.
Is almost impossible for indie game developer to create a blockbuster game in other mobile platform without a good distribution channel.
iOS and the iTune ecosystem total overwhelm the world (Hey, even Ghana have a AppStore !) The indie developer already benefit and earn a better foothold with iOS even with Android.
Now the playing field is more even as each developer regardless big and small can compete with the game creativity and not just marketing itself.
Lastly, with the AppStore in the cloud (network) nature compare to the PSP/NDS brick and mortal point of sale system, it is easier to see the Long Tail effect, where there is always a market cater for niche people as internet provide virtual unlimited store front.
This is just another round of Amazon vs Border bookstore war, and we already know who is going to win. Hint, it take 9 year (1995-2006) for amazon.
